Homes for Scotland (HFS) has announced the shortlist for its 2023 awards programme, this year focused on the theme of People | Place | Planet.
With environmental, sustainable and social values remaining high across agendas, those companies making the judges’ first cut can be accessed here.
Reflecting the importance of businesses ensuring that their products, services and practices offer maximum social, economic and environmental value to customers, consumers and communities, this is a thread that the 2023 judging panel wished to see woven throughout all awards submissions, with a stand-alone People | Place | Planet award this year introduced in order to highlight those organisations/individuals who are going the extra mile in terms of moving the dial on sustainable behaviours.
In keeping with the programme’s ongoing robust judging process, the independent panel will be undertaking site visits to all those shortlisted in the Development of the Year categories alongside corresponding senior management interviews to determine who will take one of three headline Home Builder of the Year awards. Those shortlisted under the People | Place | Planet category will be invited to an online interview, with a sub-group of the HFS Board deciding upon the winner of Associate Member of the Year.
Winners will be revealed at the Homes for Scotland Annual Lunch (sponsored by Burness Paull) at the EICC on Friday 26 May at which over 800 senior industry representatives and guests are already confirmed to attend what remains the date in the Scottish home building industry calendar.
Chair of the independent judging panel David Knight, former Managing Director at Avant Homes said:
“I am delighted to be chairing the panel for a second year and have been hugely impressed and encouraged by both the volume of entries received – up almost 30% on last year, and the quality on show throughout submissions.
“With a particular focus this year on social, environmental and economic impact, my fellow judges and I look forward to now embarking on the site visit and interview stage of the process in order to see the impact of these key criteria really brought to life.”
